The essential checklist

  1. PS5 or PS5 Pro.
  2. A television with a compatible 4K/120 HDMI input.
  3. The included cable or a certified Ultra High Speed HDMI cable.
  4. A game and console setting that support 120Hz.
  5. Optional storage, wired networking, and audio chosen for your real needs.

Do not replace the included HDMI cable without a reason

The PS5’s included cable is the correct starting point. If you need another length, choose certified Ultra High Speed HDMI and use the television input that supports the required gaming features.

Storage changes convenience—not graphics

A compatible M.2 SSD lets PS5 games run from the expansion drive. For many frequent players, 2TB balances capacity and cost. It does not increase frame rate or picture quality.

Wired networking can improve consistency

A reputable factory-terminated Cat6 or Cat6A patch cable is sufficient for normal home internet and gaming. Cat8 can work but does not reduce latency by itself when the router, internet connection, and console are the limiting factors.

Audio is the final optional layer

A 3.1 soundbar can improve dialogue and bass without building a full speaker system. Confirm HDMI eARC compatibility and television audio settings.

ChoiceMeadow’s verdict

Spend first on the television and console experience. Reuse the included cable, add storage only when needed, wire the console when practical, and choose audio for the room.
